3M is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) this year. The annual event will take place from 18 – 21 January 2021, and brings together policy makers, industry specialists, technology pioneers and the next generation of sustainability leaders to share knowledge, implement strategies and deliver solutions to drive human progress.

A key pillar of the 3M Strategic Sustainability Framework is Science for Community, aimed at creating a more positive world through science, and inspiring people to join us.

This year, 3M will take an active role in promoting social change and sustainable development through Dr. Gayle Schueller, 3M Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, who will speak on gender equality at the intersection of science and sustainability. Many people have observed that the countries dealing most effectively with the COVID-19 crisis are led by women, leading to a debate about how to unlock the potential of women as leaders of complex, global challenges. Dr. Schueller will join fellow panellists on the ‘Demonstrating the Importance of Gender Equality in Combating Climate Change’ panel, happening 19 January 2021 at 20:25 GST to discuss this trend.

“As we continue to face some of the world’s biggest challenges, collaborating to find sustainable and accessible solutions has never been more important. And to help drive the greatest amount of impact, we must ensure that gender equality and inclusion are embedded in those solutions,” said Dr. Schueller. “I look forward to discussing the crucial role gender parity plays in sustainability efforts at 3M and how we can all work together to equitably improve lives around the world.”

A key pillar of the 3M Strategic Sustainability Framework is Science for Community, aimed at creating a more positive world through science, and inspiring people to join us. Efforts under this pillar are designed to have a clear social impact, including the promotion of equal opportunities for women and disadvantaged communities.

“As a company that believes in the value that science can offer in helping to solve world problems, we are excited to once again be offered an opportunity to share some of Dr. Schueller’ s thoughts at this year’s ADSW, “said Robert Nichols, Managing Director for Middle East and Africa at 3M.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2021 will reinforce the message that a decade of concerted action is required to deliver on the Sustainability Development Goals, and that the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19 have further illustrated the critical importance of achieving a truly sustainable recovery for all.
